Games Anime Comic Circle 2008 Coverage
Wow. Just look at the crowd. GACC 2008 was fantastic. My drive down to Malacca on Sunday was definitely worth it. Despite having the event held in MMU Malacca , GACC still manage to gather quite a crowd going for it. One can imagine if it were held in KL, they would need a much larger hall than this.
Cosplayers were at their full gear this time around. Jedis were decked out in their robes and flashing their light sabers, Commando Chaos from the last ACF 2008 event made his way down to GACC as well and many other characters from various different series made their presence felt.
Its also good to know that Hard Gay has decided to spread his love to our country ! FUUOOOOOOOO !!
Special guest Masakazu Morita, seiyuu of Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, managed to make his way to the stage just about on schedule despite the overwhelming crowd. Die hard fans of Bleach were definitely restless with his appearance. Mr Morita spent a good one hour entertaining and answering questions from both the organizers and fan submitted questions which was a contest that ran a couple of weeks earlier. The lucky winners get to personally present their questions to Mr Morita-san. We even get to hear him doing Ichigo’s famous battle cry to summon his Bankai powers in Bleach much to everyone’s delight.
Konpachi, a cross between Zaraki Kenpachi and Kon of Bleach (notice the tiny bells around his mane), was definitely a favorite among the visitors. Who could resist hugging a life size Kon like that ? Besides the cosplayers, there were lots of other stuff going on during the GACC. A whole corner was dedicated to collectible card games and other forms of table top boardgames. Visitors were welcomed to sit in and participate in the games. My favorite Saboteur card game was also on play. And on the other end, rows of TVs and projectors were setup for Playstation 2 gaming competitions such as Tekken 5 and Burnout 5 among many others.
Figurines and Gunpla models were up for sale on some of the booths. Local manga house, Gempak Starz was present to promote their mangas along with many other doujinshi stalls. I bet Bleach merchandises were selling like hot cakes after Morita-san’s appearance today. I had a great time at GACC and will definitely be looking forward for next year’s !
