Artist of the Month - A Special Tribute to Izumi Sakai

Just last week, a memorial concert was held in Tokyo in memory of one of the most iconic artist of the 90s, Izumi Sakai of the band Zard. Sakai, who died in an accidental fall a year ago, was the lead vocal of Zard and an avid song writer who wrote numerous songs for Jpop groups like Deen, Field of View and even the late Teresa Teng. Zard produced many hit singles which were used in animes like SlamDunk, DragonballGT, Detective Conan and Cooking Master Boy. Sakai herself has been known to be very mysterious and never revealed much of her personal life to the public. I have always enjoyed listening to her songs through the animes that I’ve watched over the years.
