Imagi Studios Plans for a Tetsujin 28 CGI Remake

Imagi Studios whose credits include the 2007 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, the upcoming Gatchaman and Astro Boy remakes has released a teaser of the anime mecha classic Tetsujin 28 also known as Gigantor in the US on their newly launched T28 website. Imagi’s Creative Director Felix Ip revealed on his blog that the test animation teaser was made just before his team was heavily involved with the Astro Boy project. Although the studio has not committed to making a full length version of the movie yet, the website allows visitors to vote if they would like to see one being made.
I for one am thrilled with the idea of the remake. There’s been 3 different releases of the series and I remember enjoying the 80s version when I was a kid, back then it was known as Ironman 28 which was a Hong Kong dubbed version. The 80s version of T28 mecha had a slimmer build but still packs quite a punch. Head over to Imagi’s site to catch the teaser and vote if you’d like to have the movie made now !

Hi, unfortunately the studio behind them was shut down earlier this year, so it’s unlikely the T28 movie gets released anytime soon, but here’s an awesome trailer that released last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVpAdOe8YE8
